Dancing Daisy
with
Margaret Drayton

Here we have another one of Margaret’s creations using all the Batik Scraps you have or choosing a colour theme to suit your Decore.  This is a lovely bright Quilt.  In class you will learn the technique to make the daisy blocks and the daisies can be appliqued using the  ‘raw edged’ technique or they can be ‘needle turned’ – the choice is yours.  The blocks are 8 inches finished and so the Quilt can be made to any size by just adjusting the number of blocks you make.  This ‘block’ would make great cushions or a very attractive bed or table runner.  Just use your imagination and add this block to you favourites.

Hand Quilting

You will learn the ‘rocking’ and ‘stabbing’ method of quilting. Each student is then helped to develop their skills in the method of choice with emphasis on individual needs.  All aspects of creating a hand quilted quilt are addressed in class.  Different types of batting, threads, fabrics and needles are compared and made available for trial by students.
The successful marking and ‘sandwiching’ of the quilt is also discussed.
To utilise the full class time a prepared kit is provided for each student at a cost of $10 each (paid to Julie on the day of class).  Each kit will be marked with a design and basted ready to start quilting (how easy is that??). All threads and needles will be provided for use on the day.
